Voice Acting and Font

Postby Michael_TSM on Sat Jan 26, 2008 5:04 am

Just dropping in to wish you the best of luck with your adventure game, even by commercial standards your artwork is incredible, and certainly stands head and shoulders over most AGS games.

But I have a few questions:
- Will there be voice acting?
I know this may be pretty low down on your priorities, but once you wave episode 1 of your adventure in people's faces you may be able to attract the appropriate attention for a good audio cast.
Or you could approach some preexisting groups to see if they'd be interested like http://starwarsfanworks.libsyn.com/
- Are you going to change that ugly, blocky, yellow font to something more attractive?

Looking forward to episode one.

God Bless

EDIT: Umm, and why are the two names for part 1? Hunting the Hunter, then down the bottom its got Dark Voyage to Tatooine.

Thank you very much for your appreciation.

Definitely. An awful lot of work is needed in order to complete the whole project, so that's not something we talk too much about. Anyway your suggestion may be very helpful in the future.

Ahahah, I was sure that one day someone would have complained about that. You know, that font was chosen for affective reasons, only because it reproduces the original LucasArts dialogue font. No other reason, obviously, and certainly not for aesthetic reasons!
I'm responsible for that choice and recently I was already considering the possibility to replace it with a modern font. To be conservative isn't necessarily a good thing, and this time it's one of those cases.
In the final game you can expect to find a new font set as default, while the current one will be kept as an alternative for retrogamers / grandpas / LucasArts aficionados, etc.

It's quickly told: 'Hunting the hunter' is the title for a portion of Part I ('Dark Voyage to Tatooine') we're gonna release as soon as possible. We're currently assembling the various elements. The player will be able to use Dash Rendar on Ord Mantell and Gall. His story until the events of the Battle of Gall will be fully featured.
All of that will be included into DVTT, Part I, which will feature 4 switchable characters, Luke, Leia, Dash and Lando. So HTH is part of Part I, a preview.

Sounds great,

And while I'm not against nostalgia or antiquity I agree that changing the default font would be a good idea, because the kind of graphical style you are employing is not one I ever remember Lucasarts using, so the font tends to clash with the overall feel.
